Hello again, fellow bloggers and readers to my blog. Sorry I haven't posted anything in awhile. Been busy with work, officiating track meets, and trying to get my butt back into running and I 've tried to come up with a blog post but I wanted to make this one count and everyone to know where I stand and what evidence I'll bring to support my argument that I want to win this debate with my buds at work.
With everybody having a certain opinion on how to be patriotic these past few weeks with the whole Bin Laden thing, I'll give you all a topic that all of us can think and how it is your civic duty to decide which is best. I'm talking about who is a bigger badass on TV, Jack Bauer, or MacGyver.

Now this argument had started over a year ago. After watching the last ever season of 24 my friends at work and I usually just B.S. about certain things when we walk around after we eat lunch. So I told them I watch 24 and think the character Jack Bauer was so cool. I should know I was him for Halloween once, but I don't have a picture. Both of the guys argued back that MacGyver is more man than Jack Bauer since he doesn't use a gun and can make explosives out anything that he uses with a Swiss army knife and duct tape. Well, I have a Swiss army knife and duct tape, does that make me MacGyver.
They argue that he doesn't have to use a gun to get the bad guy. Well, there were times that Jack Bauer didn't even have to use a gun to kill the bad guy. In Season 6 of 24 when Jack was captured and tied up he
escaped by biting a terrorist right through his neck into the jugular vein and killing him. It was one of the coolest things I ever saw in that television series. He was able to untie himself and escape. How would MacGyver ever escape from that without useful things or a Swiss army knife? The terrorists would have taken all of his stuff and try to leave nothing so he couldn't make a bomb out of or cut through his chains
to escape. This is one of the many reasons why Jack Bauer to me is more badass than MacGyver will ever be.
I try to back up my reasons with evidence from websites and what not just to prove that Jack Bauer is more badass than MacGyver. How my buddies at work think MacGyver is better than Jack Bauer is beyond me, yet one of them thought The Hangover wasn't a funny movie and that everyone I know likes or loves The Hangover so what does that tell you? I gave him a DVD of The Expendables and he hasn't seen it yet. Mostly cause his wife doesn't like action movies, and she didn't like The Hangover either. They're the Weirdest Couple I know.
Back to my argument, some would say that Jack Bauer or 24 appeals more to adults and MacGyver is more for kids because they would believe that MacGyver can make a gun out of Tics Tacs, straws, and used metal. Sounds ridiculous, right? Even the creators of the show acknowledged, in real life one would have to be extraordinarily lucky for most of MacGyver's ideas to succeed. In 24, you can definitely see certain situations that Jack is forced into what is happening for him to react quickly. But, let's compare the two main characters by their strengths, flaws, their allies on the show, and their shows themselves to see who is more badass.
First, let’s take a look at MacGyver. He always carries a Swiss Army knife, duct tape, or whatever junk is on him. He never uses guns meaning his character is a gun control advocate. Not to be to political but this shows he is kind of a wimp. They say when he uses whatever to make these explosives that it is in self defense and he never means to kill anyone. That’s bull because explosives are meant to cause destruction and kill people if they are close by. MacGyver, bad guys would kill you if they have the chance and they would not give you a chance to defend yourself. Speaking of that does anybody that had watched the show ever see MacGyver have any fighting skills? Of course he's got the mullet hair cut but so did Rosie O'Donnell at one time.

That's right his first name is defintely Angus!!! Yeah that’s right, Angus. Sounds like a name of a punk rocker or your favorite hamburger other than someone you want to trust saving your life. Take away the g from the word and it's anus!!! Huh huh, anus. (A little Butthead right there) But, still how would you take him seriously. I'm sorry but how is it possible for coffin to turn into a jetski?? The jetski didn't look that great, the picture quality of it didn;t look believable. Those East Germans back in the 80's are stupid. If you wanna make sure he's dead burn the coffin, lets see you get out of that MacGyver. Also, those East German Communists are terrible shooters, his back is very noticeable and a big target. The actors from the A-Team could have hit MacGvyer. Sorry but if I was old enough like I am now back in the 80's I would be watching the A-Team, Mr.T woudl even beat up that FOOL MacGyver, lol, but back to my argument. MacGyver works for the fictional Phoenix Foundation with his buddy some bald guy who helps him out, along with the guy who played "D-Day" in the movie Animal House.
There you go MacGyver.
Now, you may argue that MacGyver can make a bomb from silly puddy, make a gun from a pen, or make use house hold items to escape prison and he can never use a gun. Yeah that's true. Jack Bauer can do those things to. Like I said before has anyone seem MacGyver try to use his fists to fight. In fact the TV Show Mythbusters proves some of his inventions work but not as well as you would think or not at all.
It took them 52 minutes in real life to get out of the room while it took MacGyver 1 min. Jack Bauer could have done that or at least kicked the door down to get out. Another thing you might tell me is that people love MacGyver since Saturday Night Live has done a parady of him, MacGruber.

It just shows you that MacGyver isn't as much of a badass as Jack Bauer. I hope Kiefer Sutherland has more respect for his character of Jack Bauer that he wouldn't subject himself to this crap!! Now, you guys are saying how good is Jack Bauer well now I'll describe for you, Jack Bauer!!!!
Jack Bauer is the main protangist on the hit TV Show 24, which just ended last year after 8 successful seasons, that's 192 episodes surpassing Mission Impossible & The Avengers as the longest-running espionage-themed television drama ever, a video game, 68 emmy nominations with 20 wins, 11 Golden Globe nominations with 2 wins, 10 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations with 4 wins, a TV Movie called 24:Redemption which aired in between seasons 6 and 7, and a possible Motion Picture Movie to be filmed at the end of this year to be aired in 2012 (hopefully).
MacGyver only lasted 7 seasons which was 136 episodes, and only 2 made for tv movies. It was nominated for 4 emmys during its run but not for any acting creditals just for sound editing and make up.

Pretty good. You don't here that type of score during a MacGyver episode. The series had real intense drama and action not that goody goody crap kind of drama in a MacGyver episode where MacGyver saves the day and everything is hunky dory. :P Sometimes in real life people died and Jack dealt with so much that sometimes some characters die but it works out great in the end of the season or day I should say and we go into the next season. Every episode of 24 kept you glued to the television. It was the same old crap with MacGyver.

The name says it all. I don't play the game euchre but the "bauer" is the jack of the trump suit and the most powerful card in any particular round. That should say it right there. Jack Bauer conquers all.
See Jack was a member of the U.S. Army, where the Delta Force where he received specialized training with a ton of honors. Is capable of understanding or speaking many languages, more than MacGyver, worked for LA Police Special weapons force, CIA before going to CTU (Counter Terriorsit Unit) which has shown that he was the most capable agent in that organization. He specializes also in weapons and explosives. Done a little more in his early years than MacGyver. Even had time to start a family and had a daughter. Sadly his wife was killled by Nina Myers, a traitor in CTU, at the end of the first season. One of the most sadest moments of the show.

You don't have real drama like that in MacGyver. But, Jack slowly but surely moved on and protected the country from Nuclear Bombs, government conspircies, other terriorists, an evil president, prevening the release of a deadly virus, and preventing the USA from going to war with other countries by exposing other conspirators who wanted to profit due to war.
The man is able to take torture as well. Inbetween season 5 and 6 he was held capitive in a Chinese prison and never spoke a word. Speaking of handling torture. In the beginning of season 6 he made one of his greatest escapes right here.

How cool was that he bites the guy's neck in the jugular vein killing him, taking the keys and escaping. BADASS!!! Terriorists would try to take anything away to make sure MacGyver doesn't invent anything to escape. Jack didnt us a weapon he just bit him in the neck.
And so what if Jack uses torture to get any information from Bad guys or traitors. He will get it no matter what. But, he's not this cold monster that you may think that likes to torture people he respects the law as he says at the end of season 7 to one of his female friends whom he was close to.
"I see fifteen people held hostage on a bus, and everything else goes out the window. I will do whatever it takes to save them, and I mean whatever it takes. ... Laws were written by much smarter men than me. And in the end, these laws have to be more important than the 15 people on the bus. I know that's right. In my mind, I know that's right. I just don't think my heart could ever have lived with it."
Jack isn't alone he has help from CTU agents along the way at least those who are more capable and actually believes he is right most the time. This includes Tony Almeida and his soul patch, and Chloe, the intellgence analyst who is there to help out Jack with any information
Beats having a bald guy and D-Day from Animal House especially since these two are more reliable at helping Jack than anybody. Like the Jack Bauer fact says, "If everyone listen to Jack the show would be called 12". I think Jack Bauer led the special forces attack that killed Osama Bin Laden and Al-Queda is afraid to retalliate since they know who killed Bin Laden. JACK BAUER!!!!
So with all of those skills and ways of badass are the reasons why 24 is not only a better TV Show than MacGyver, but that JACK BAUER IS MORE BADASS THAN MACGYVER AND CAN KICK HIS NERDY ASS ALL OVER THE WORLD 15 TIMES!!! It would have to be an MMA style fight and MacGyver has to use his fighting skills (what fighting skills??) in order to beat Jack which he can't. Jack has killed people with or without guns. Here's evidence.
Jack has killed 265 guys in an entire series that's 8 days. Image how many he has killed inbetween each season. MacGyver hasn't killed 26 people in his entire series.
So you're all thinking these are fictional characters and this is pretty silly. What is the point to this blog? Yeah I may be a little goofy in writing this and I hope you are entertained in reading. But, my point is to prove to my two buddies at work that JACK BAUER can kick MACGYVER's Butt anyday of the week and he is more of a BADASS than him!!! Please tell me that I'm correct. Or reply back as to think why he is and I just wasted my time on this or else I'll think you are just as stupid as my buddies are.
