SEC/ACC
Predictions
My 2014 College Football Predictions continue. First
starting with the right now the #1 conference in College Football in play and
of course by the Media THE SEC (Southeastern Conference)
West
Division
1.) Alabama Crimson Tide (7-1 SEC
12-1 Overall)
Nick Saban hopes to get Bama back
to the top of the SEC after losing to Auburn & Oklahoma in Sugar Bowl. WR
Amari Cooper will be the main target for new QB Jake Coker who transferred from
Florida State. T.J Yeldon & Derrick Henry will be the RB’s . DL A’Shawn
Robinson & LB Trey DePriest, and DB Landon Collins lead the Defense.
Alabama is a national title contender.
2.) Auburn Tigers
(6-2 SEC 10-2
Overall)
QB Nick Marshall hopes to lead
Auburn to another memorable season but he’ll have to do it without Tre Mason
but WR Sammie Coates returns. CB Jonathon Mincy returns but he and Marshall
will have to miss the first game due to marijuana possession. Wow. LOL. LB Kris
Frost is on the Butkis Award watchlist. They go to Alabama so it’ll be difficult
but I think they’ll go to a high bowl game.
3.) LSU Tigers (5-3
SEC 9-3 Overall)
LSU usually has a lot of talent but
many of go to the NFL and some get replaced. I could have had them a game
better without the loss of Zach Mettenberger. Anthony Jennings & Brandon
Harris will battle for playing time at QB. They have talent to be good. The Wisconsin
game should tell more about them but they go to Florida and Auburn but host
Alabama.
T4.)
Ole Miss Rebels (4-4 SEC
8-4 Overall)
The Rebels are improving year by year and hope to at least have a chance
to be in the top 3 of the West Division. QB Bo Wallace returns to lead the
Offense while on Defense DE Robert Nkemdiche returns and he could be an
All-American Candidate. They go to LSU but get Alabama & Auburn at home and
could surprise one of them.
T4.) Texas A&M Aggies (4-4 SEC 8-4 Overall)
Life after Johnny Football begins. But, because of
Manzel, Coach Kevin Sumlin has signed high level recruits and given the Aggies
Top 10 ranked classes last 2 years so talent is there. Kenny Hill & Kyle
Allen will battle for QB job. It helps that 4 out of 5 linemen return. The
Young defensive players need to step up if A&M wants to continue to be one
of the most competitive teams in the SEC.
6.)
Mississippi State Bulldogs (3-5 SEC
7-5 Overall)
Last Year’s Liberty Bowl Champs hope to improve this
year under HC Dan Mullen. QB DaK Prescott will lead the offense. The Bulldogs
have a favorable schedule & good returners on both sides. They could finish
anywhere from 6-6 to 10-2.
7.)
Arkansas Razorbacks (0-8 SEC
3-9 Overall)
Life surely
has not been easy for HC Bret Bielema since he left Wisconsin in 2012 and had a
3-9 record last year in Arkansas. It may not be easier if he doesn’t at least
get them back to a bowl.
East Division
1.)
Georgia
Bulldogs (7-1 SEC 11-2 Overall)
Georgia hopes that the injury bug
won’t hit them bad this year like it did last year when they went 8-5. QB
Hutson Mason went in for Aaron Murray late last season and filled in nicely.
Having both RB’s Todd Gurley & Keith Marshall healthy could determine
Georgia’s season. All SEC Linebacker Ramik Wilson returns to lead the defense.
2.)
South
Carolina Gamecocks (6-2 SEC 10-2 Overall)
QB Dylan Thompson takes over for Conner
Shaw but experience at O Line and Tailbacks Mike Davis & Brandon Wilds will
help transition. Jadeveon Clowney is gone on defense and the only returning
Defensive Linemen is JT Surratt. The cornerbacks have to step up if the
Gamecocks want to continue winning 10 games or more.
3.) Missouri Tigers (4-4
SEC 8-4 Overall)
The Tigers
surprised the country by winning the SEC East Division & the Cotton Bowl.
However, they’ll have to do it without QB James Franklin and DE Michael Sam
& Kony Ealy. QB Maty Mauk does return and he filled in while Franklin was
hurt. The D Line needs to be replaced in order for Missouri to contend again.
4.) Florida Gators (4-4 SEC 7-5 Overall)
Coach Wil Muschamp hopes to turn
around a disastrous 4-8 record last year at Florida. QB Jeff Driskel returns
and is healthy. WR Andre Debose will be one of his receivers. DE Dante Fowler
& CB Vernon Hargreaves III return to improve the defense.
5.
Tennessee Volunteers (3-5 SEC 6-6
Overall)
With a whole slew of new recruits,
Coach Butch Jones hopes to get Tennessee back to one of the most talented teams
in the SEC. LB A.J Johnson will lead the
defense. CB Cameron Sutton is also one of 5 returners. On Offense 6 starters
return. QB Justin Worley(SR) has the nod but Joshua Dobbs(SOPH) could see time.
C Max Cowder is the O Line leader.
6.
Vanderbilt Commodores (2-6 SEC 6-6
Overall)
HC Derek Mason hopes to have just as much success as James Franklin did
at Vanderbilt. There is still enough talent for Vanderbilt to go to a bowl game. RB Jerron Seymour returns. QB Patton Robinette will take over for Austyn Carta-Samuels. Karl Dorell will be their new Defensive Coordinator.
7. Kentucky Wildcats (1-7 SEC 4-8
Overall)
Kentucky
Football has not won an SEC game since 2011 and Mark Stoops hopes to change
that this year. The Quarterback issue needs to be addressed. The defense will
look to DE Za’Darius Smith to be their leader. They have some good young
recruited talent but it may take another year for them to gel.
Atlantic
Division
1.) Florida State Seminoles (8-0
ACC 13-0 Overall)
Besides the returning Heisman
trophy winner & Lobster Thief (LOL) QB Jameis Winston, the Seminoles get
leading receiver Rashad Greene. On Defense they’ll be led by CB PJ Williams
& LB Terrance Smith. Looking at their schedule they’ll be most likely in the
College Football Playoff unless something disastrous happens.
2.) Clemson Tigers (7-1
ACC 9-3 Overall)
After an Orange Bowl win season the
Tigers will have to replace career passing leader Tajh Boyd. QB Cole Stoudt
& Deshaun Watson are battling for the job. The defense will be the strength
this season as DE Vic Beasley & DT Grady Jarrett lead the linemen.
3.) Louisville Cardinals (5-3 ACC 8-4 Overall)
Bobby Petrino returns to the school
that made him a hot coaching commodity.
That will never get old. But Petrino will be with Teddy Bridgewater. They do have some playmakers and a experienced line to help out. The Defense only has 4 returners but DE Lorenzo Mauldin is the stud of the group.
4) Syracuse Orange (3-5 ACC 6-6
Overall)
North Carolina 5-3 8-4
Miami (FLA) 5-3 8-4
Duke 4-4 8-4
Georgia Tech 3-5 6-6
Pittsburgh 3-5 6-6
Virginia 2-6 4-8
Next is the Rest plus Playoff Predictions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Orange hope to return to
another bowl game. They will be led by QB Scott Shafer as he has weapons like
WR Ashton Broyld to throw to. If Syracuse want to make noise the Defense has to
be consistent. Safety Durell Eskridge is the returning lead tackler.
5.) Boston College Eagles (3-5 ACC 6-6 Overall)
Leading Rusher Andre Williams is
gone but Myles Willis had some time as a Freshman and he hopes to continue the
run game for BC.QB Tyler Murphy is a transfer from Florida. The Defense will be
led by LB Steven Daniels. BC will have a good chance of going bowling again.
6.) NC State Wolfpack (2-6 ACC 6-6
Overall)
HC Dave Doren hopes to get the
Wolfpack back to a bowl after a 3-9 season his first year. He has 7 starters
back on both sides of the ball. Jacoby Brissett will be the QB. The defense
looks solid led by LB Brandon Pittman.
7.) Wake Forest Demon Deacons (0-8 ACC 3-9 Overall)
This is Dave Clawson first year
coming from Bowling Green and he may a tough time getting his team to adjust. Most of the O line returns but QB Tyler
Cameron needs to establish himself. The D returns 5 starters but return leading
tacklers LB Brandon Chubb and Safety Ryan Javion.
Coastal
Division Conf Overall
Virginia Tech 6-2 9-4
North Carolina 5-3 8-4
